The Afiya Center Organizational Dissolution Statement

To our community, funding partners, and supporters: After careful evaluation and extensive deliberation, the Board of Directors of The Afiya Center has made the difficult decision to permanently dissolve the organization. The Afiya Center will cease all operations.

This is a complete closure, not a transition or merger into another entity.

This decision was not made lightly. Over the past 18 years, we have closely assessed our operational capacity, financial sustainability, and long-term strategic viability in relation to the needs of the communities we serve. Ultimately, the Board determined that complete dissolution is the most responsible path forward to honor our mission, our people, and the resources entrusted to us.

Since our founding, The Afiya Center has worked to transform the lives, health, and overall well-being of Black womxn and girls by providing refuge, education, and resources. The progress we achieved together would not have been possible without your trust, investment, and partnership. We are deeply grateful to the funders, donors, community partners, staff, volunteers, and advocates who have sustained our work over these 18 years. You helped shape a legacy that will continue through the individuals, movements, and organizations that carry this mission forward. In honor of that legacy and the trust placed in us, we are committed to a thoughtful and responsible closure process. We will communicate updates as needed throughout this transition.

While this chapter is coming to an end, the values and commitments that shaped The Afiya Center remain alive in the communities and collaborators we've had the honor to serve.
